Farms in the Middle East are surrounded by sand. A lot of sand! During the day, the cows are kept inside because of the heat. When the temperature cools down the cows can go outside. Sand is everywhere: in the stables, in the equipment and even in the water.
Four times a day the walking alleys get flushed. The liquid slurry is collected in a pit. To prevents the sand from causing damage in the machines and the grounds and stables aren’t buried under large lumps of sand. Every evening, when the cows go outside, the complete farm is rinsed with recycled water. The water is collected in the pit. Because sand settles in the water, the waterpit is emptied and cleaned 3 times a week.
